I have uploaded demo videos for my FFmpeg book to Rumble. I wanted to upload the videos when the book was released in 2023. Before I could do that, I lost the drive in which I had stored the videos for convenience. Recently, I found the drive again. Now, the videos are available as ‘extra resources’ for the book.

Chanced upon an FFmpeg trick to boost vocals while handling a bootleg movie doing research.

Today, I learned to create numbered lists and strikeouts in plain text. It will be useful if you type in MarkDown or CommonMark. I updated my Unicode tricks article with this information. It will also make it to my book Linux Command-Line Tricks & Tricks in the next few days.

If your Linux OS is old, then you may not be able to compile some codec libraries for use with FFmpeg. These libraries may require a newer version of Python 3 than the one that is used by your desktop or window manager. If you compile from source and update to the latest version of Python 3, your old desktop may become unusable.

The Amazon Cloudfare service is used by several websites to protect them from DDOS attacks. It has blacklisted several BSNL IP addresses. This can randomly prevent you from accessing these websites.

When your Internet modem is turned on or restarts, it seeks a temporary IP address on a temporary lease for its WAN (internet) connection from the ISP. If the IP is in the Cloudfare blacklist and you try to reach a website protected by it, Cloudfare will not let your IP access it. In your browser, this will be shown as a ‘PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR’ error? There is no hacker meddling in your Net connection. It is Amazon and their stupid Cloudfare service.

The fix is to restart the modem. The modem requests another IP on a temporary lease and hopefully it is also not in the Cloudfare blacklist. If you do not want to get off your derriere every time this happens, then log in to your modem's configuration and find the option to restart (soft reset) the modem.
